- Drive onto the beach. For $12 you can get an annual beach pass and drive your vehicle right onto the beach for a day of relaxation. Or, if you prefer, rent a golf cart for a few hours or the entire day.
- Kayak through Mustang Island. The Mustang Island Paddling Trail is a great opportunity to get off the beaten bath and explore the island’s waterways and wildlife habitats. Rent a kayak or paddle board or bring your own.
- Go fishing. Port Aransas has some of the best fishing spots for Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Flounder. There are bay-side and Gulf-side fishing opportunities and charters are available for a few hours or an entire day
- Try parasailing or windsurfing. There are plenty of watersports options on Mustang Island, including parasailing and windsurfing. Once airborne, you’ll be able to view the beautiful coastline and might even catch a glimpse of dolphins swimming below.
- Go camping. Whether you prefer electric campsites or more primitive camping, there are plenty of options in Port Aransas and Mustang Island. Get a camping spot just steps from the beach and breathe in the healing sea air.
- Go bird watching. There are hundreds of species of local birds that can be seen in Port Aransas, which is home to 6 sites on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail. Grab a pair of binoculars and a birding book and scope out the more than 400 species from trails, boardwalks, and observation towers throughout the area
- Watch dolphins. There is nothing more exciting than catching a glimpse of a school of dolphins shimmering in the Gulf Coast waters. Dolphin watch tours are a fun wildlife experience the whole family can enjoy.
- Attend Texas SandFest. This famous sandcastle-building contest takes place every spring and is a favorite of visitors and locals alike. Marvel at dozens of creative sandy structures or build your own!
- Try a pirate cruise. Travel back in time with a pirate cruise on a replica of a 17th century ship. You’ll be able to sail through waters of Aransas Bay and enjoy the sights and the live entertainment on board. Private boat rentals are also available
- Watch a sailboat race. The annual Harvest Moon Regatta hosts hundreds of sailboats every year as they sail from Galveston to the Port Aransas finish line. The regatta generally takes place in the fall.
- Rent a bicycle. With hourly, daily and weekly rates, bicycle rentals in Port Aransas are a great way to take in the scenery and culture of the town. Tour Port A by bike and explore the unique shops, boutiques and galleries featuring local artwork, decor, clothing and souvenirs.
- Go horseback riding. Mustang Island is named after the wild mustangs that inhabited the area in the 17th century. Local ranches offer horseback riding opportunities and may even let you take your horse onto the beach.
- Visit the Texas State Aquarium. Just a short drive from Port Aransas, the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi is an educational adventure your kids will never forget. The aquarium features numerous live animal exhibits as well as a dolphin show, 4D theater, and outdoor splash park.
- Explore San Jose Island. This uninhabited island is the perfect place to hunt for seashells or swim in clear waters. The 21 miles of pristine coastline provide a peaceful getaway for vacationers of all ages.
- Enjoy the Port A art scene. Check out the Port Aransas Art Center or visit one of the many artist studios and galleries throughout town. The Port Aransas Museum also features educational information about the island throughout history and up to the present day.
